About this class

Dive into the fascinating world of pottery. In this entry-level course near Münster, you will learn how to shape and design clay with your hands. We start with the basics, deal with hand modelling and explore various techniques for surface design. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can experiment creatively and create your own piece of ceramic.

You can use modern molding techniques and plate technology, which make it easier for you to model so that you can successfully produce several workpieces.

You can glaze these directly during the course, as we work with special glazes that can also be used on unfired clay. I will then burn your pottery for you.

What you’ll do in the class

  • Introduction to the basics of pottery
  • Preparation and modeling of clay
  • Design of individual ceramic pieces
  • Surface Design & Finishing Techniques
  • Experiment with colors and textures
  • After the course: firing & glazing service (optional additional appointment for Raku fire)
  • Picking up the finished workpiece after the fire

Who is the class suitable for?

The course is ideal for beginners who want to learn how to make pottery. Participants with previous knowledge are also welcome.

Children are welcome and can participate between the ages of 6-14 years. I also offer special courses for children, as well as the opportunity to celebrate children's birthdays in my pottery workshop.

Suitable for 1 to 8 people.

We were warmly welcomed by the course instructor Susanne. The course room was big enough and had all the materials you could want. There were also aprons in front of the room so that the clothes remained clean despite manual work. During a short introduction, we were able to learn the first steps with the clay and form a small, beautiful bowl. We were always well advised! Then it went straight to the nitty-gritty, we could either use templates or create a completely custom shape by hand. If we had any questions, we could always contact Susanne, she was always available with advice and assistance, but we also had the freedom to try out ourselves. We then glazed the finished clay and left it there to burn. During the course, we were able to learn a lot of basics about sound. In addition to the course price, there are minimal burning costs, which were not included in the price and are calculated individually depending on size and shape. However, the costs are only charged upon collection. We can highly recommend the course and can also imagine coming back again.:)

We did the pottery class as part of a bachelorette party — and it was simply wonderful! The atmosphere was relaxed and creative, perfect for our group.
